Hello.
My name is Callum Baston. I’ll be using this site to create resources for learning including but not limited to Hack The Box / TryHackMe write-ups in the hope that it will help someone.
My primary role is at Abbott Risk Consulting (ARC) where I’m a cybersecurity consultant specializing in Operational Technology (OT) cyber security; think oil rigs, health monitors, production lines (things that interact with the real world). Day to day I help protect critical infrastructure and industrial systems from cyber attacks. I work at the intersection of safety and security. I’ve been conducting vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and embedding cybersecurity into complex engineering and operational environments. Being a consultant at ARC really keeps things interesting, not to mention the travel.
My background spans a wide range of cyber security topic including penetration testing, secure software development, and policy design, I started as a software security intern at NCR where I was an intern while at Uni. After Uni I went off on my own for a bit. But now I’m a Consultant at Abbott Risk Consulting and a Technical Authority at Cerberex.
I have a BSc in Ethical hacking from Abertay University and the GICSP certification, I try to bring both technical depth and a consulting mindset to every project. I’m passionate about OT cyber security to the point I’ve made a career out of it and do it outside of work, be it TryHackMe, this blog or HackTheBox. I’m always on something.
I’m always up for a chat, feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com/in/callum-baston or email me at callum “@” this domain (note my spam filter is pretty tuned up, LinkedIn is best)
